Automatic City – Lament

Automatic City – Lament
Direction : Pauline Bricout
Release : 25 may 2023

Ode enchanted where past and present unite in a sublime dance. Pauline Bricout, inspired director, knew how to weave a retro-modern canvas for Automatic City, a poetic masterpiece. Like a magical kaleidoscope, this eclectic collage merge the eras. Animations with nostalgic and fluorescent shades, intertwining archives and 3D images. We come across cyclists and horses, swing and whale, misinguette and cagettes … And so, all this transports us in an amazing journey to the heart of our memories.

Like a vibrant echo of the soul of Mamie Perry and its irresistible lament(ation), this song is adorned with a demonic and decadent metamorphosis thanks to the geniuses of Automatic City. Carried by Eric’s voice, she becomes the ideal soundtrack for intimate moments, where bodies and minds are lost in an intoxicating dance.

To weave this bucolic patchwork, on and warm patchwork, Pauline Bricout drew from the visual treasures of Europeana, this image bank filled with cultural essence. In the digital age that transforms heritage, this database plays an essential role, supporting creators and preserving our heritage. Cultivating knowledge, forging tools and tracing politicians, they embrace the transition to digital platforms, while celebrating the richness of our history.

“This Soul Psyche Shamanique is coupled with a visual fairyland that must be seen and reviewed to discover the thoroughness of the details that perfectly stick to music. Eric Feule sensually while we visit this extraordinary cabinet of curiosities. We travel severe in this sensational bric-a-bric, fungulesque and poetic-burlesque.” These are the pretty words of “marshmallow”, one of the editors of the specialized webzine Soul Kitchen, for the release of the clip. It is an explosion of references and irreverences. A fantastic assembly, combining the aesthetics of Méliès to the mind of Jeff Koons.

About Automatic City “Lament”:

Directed by Pauline Bricout, this clip was thought of as a collage illustrating music and lyrics. “Lament” is therefore from the fourth Automatic City album, entitled “Hum Drum”. This is the clip supporting the release of this LP released at Wita Records.

About Automatic City:

“Triple Ripple”, their previous album had already been praised by criticism. Thus Marion Guibaud declared on France Inter “(that) we love everything at home”. Or for André Mamoukian, “a psychedelic quartet seeming to arise from the flower power in the 70s”. Finally, it is perhaps Télérama, who, by assigning him the maximum FFFF note, defines it best: “(one) experimental blues (who) shakes badly”.
